The Mitty Air has finger separators and mesh on top to facilitate skin checks. Besides that, the mesh cover offers ventilation so that the hand does not get so warm. Moreover the mesh allows usage of IV lines and blood saturation measurement. With this model, the fingers are separated individually. The finger separation prevents the patient and/or resident from turning his/her hand easily. The mitt is secured by hook-and-loop fasteners at the wrist and has a comfortable wrist band.
The Mitty Air is suitable for patients who unconsciously pick, pull and/of scratch. You can think of, for example, a patient/resident in a postoperative situation or in, for example, the intensive care unit, stroke unit, rehabilitation and/or neurology department.
A security mitt is considered to be a less restrictive device that should be considered and tried before more restrictive methods are used.
