Risk of falling

Falls and the often associated injuries are a major risk, especially for the elderly. Every day, 13 people in the Netherlands die as a result of a fall. The percentage of elderly (65+) visiting an emergency room after a fall has increased by six percent over the past ten years. The number of falls is rising, especially in the age category 70+.

In addition to the personal suffering, this also puts considerable pressure on our healthcare costs. Preventing someone from falling is the best remedy. But where things do go wrong, it is important to limit the damage as much as possible.

Solutions

Human Protection offers many solutions to prevent falls or to limit fall injuries. The most simple and inexpensive choice are anti-slip socks. This allows the patient to keep a grip on the often slippery surface. But also a floor bed, from which the patient or resident rolls out instead of falling. You can also think of fall mats, motion detectors and alarm buttons (domotics). Finally, Human Protection also supplies various tent beds, which offer a safe sleeping environment for restless and fall-risk patients and residents. We do this both intramurally and extramurally.
