The Mitty Air (basic) prevents the patient from pulling tubes/IV-lines and is a milder alternative to a wrist restraint. It is padded on the palm side and has mesh on top. The mesh cover offers ventilation so that the hand does not get to warm. The finger separation prevents the patient from turning his/her hand easily. The Mitty Air basic is suitable for patients who unconsciously grab, pick, scratch or pull out lines. You can think of a patient in a postoperative situation, in the intensive care unit, stroke unit, rehabilitation and/or neurology department.
As part of “constrained induced movement therapy”, security mitts can improve motor skills after a stroke. By preventing tube/line pulling, costs and personnel expenses are saved.
